I was very shocked to hear the news; I had no idea he was battling cancer. I have a particular soft spot in my heart for THIS PROPERTY IS CONDEMNED: a movie which I saw over and over again on TV when I was a kid and stuck with me (especially due to the haunting song "WISH ME A RAINBOW"). My mother is also a huge fan of THEY SHOOT HORSES, DON'T THEY. I even quite liked Pollack's remake of SABRINA; granted, it's NOT the original but I thought it was pretty good considering. However, I can't think of Sidney without thinking of him sitting at the table of the Russian Tea Room as Dustin Hoffman in drag sits down next to him in TOOTSIE. Pollack as an actor really shines in this scene.

Yes, Pollack was good value. Castle Keep is probably my favourite of his films. It's one of the quirkiest WW2 flicks of the 60s and I would have liked to see more work from him with a similarly weird and unconventional structure.
